The New York Knicks have signed small forward Jacob Toppin to a second 10-day contract, the team announced.
Toppin, 23, is 6-foot-9 and signed a two-way contract with the Knicks in October, then a 10-day deal earlier this month. He has appeared in just five games to this point, though injuries may allow him to pick up more minutes.
The brother of former Knicks forward Obi Toppin, now with the Indiana Pacers, Jacob compiled career-highs of 11 points and four rebounds in a game against the Orlando Magic on Feb. 14.
He also appeared in 13 regular-season games with the Westchester Knicks of the G League, averaging 21.9 points, 8.6 rebounds and 2.6 assists.
The Knicks needed to fill roster spots ahead of Thursday’s deadline to get to 14 players. Toppin and reported signing DaQuan Jeffries (full post) will get them there.
The Knicks (33-22) enter Thursday in second place in the Atlantic Division and fourth in the Eastern Conference.
