“I need to just do my job. Whether I’m wanted or not doesn’t really matter,” Westbrook said, via Wojnarowski. “I think the most important thing is that I show up for work and I do the job like I’ve always done it: Be professional and go out and play my ass off and compete.”
Westbrook, 33, is entering his second season with the Lakers after a clunky first. He has been the subject of endless trade speculation — and that i likely to continue.
“I’m all-in on whatever it takes for this team to win,” Westbrook said. “I’m prepared for whatever comes my way.”
- Guard/forward Alec Burks will miss the start of training cap with an ankle/foot fracture. Burks will be evaluated in three weeks.
- Forward Kevin Knox (right gastroc strain) and center Nerlens Noel (plantar faciitis) will be limited at the beginning of camp and “work towards full participation,” the team announced.
- The Pistons have signed and waived guard Kyler Edwards, per the NBA transactions log. Edwards is likely headed to the G League.
The Jazz have officially signed Cody Zeller to a training camp contract, the team announced.
Zeller, 29, is 6-foot-11 and appeared in 27 games with the Trail Blazers last season after spending the first eight years of his career with the Hornets.
He was waived in February as a result of the Blazers’ CJ McCollum trade with the Pelicans. With Portland, Zeller averaged 5.2 points and 4.6 rebounds.
