The Cavaliers (8-0). The Thunder (7-0). The Suns (6-1). The reigning champion Celtics (7-1). Remarkable starts to the NBA season for all.
But those are just some of the early storylines worth celebrating. There are some others — here’s looking at you, Nuggets — that are a little bit, well, shaky. I discuss all of it in the latest Amico Hoops podcast from the Bleav network. Check it out on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, or either player directly below.
The Cavaliers have had some close ones, but seem to be receiving a big performance from a different guy every night under new coach Kenny Atkinson — from Donovan Mitchell to Darius Garland to Evan Mobley to Jarrett Allen and beyond. Sometimes, they get big performances from TWO new guys on the same night.
Meanwhile, the Thunder are just blowing out opponents, building on last year’s top regular-season record out West. The name most know is Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, but like Cleveland, Oklahoma City is hardly a one-man team.
As for the Celtics and Suns, well, you already know why they’re good. But as I mentioned before the season in the first podcast, the NBA has become all about parity. While the Celtics have to be considered the favorites, it’s truly anyone’s game. That’s just the way the NBA wants it, and frankly, most fans probably do, too.
