NBA Rescinds 16th Technical Foul for Mavs Star Luka Doncic

Mavericks star guard Luka Doncic has hid his 16th technical foul rescinded by the NBA office, making him eligible to play in Monday’s road game vs. the Pacers.

Doncic received the technical in the third quarter of the Mavericks’ road loss to the Hornets. Any player that receives 16 technical fouls in a season must sit out for one game.

NBA crew chief Kevin Scott said after the game that officials had made the correct call because Doncic used profane language.

“Doncic was assessed a technical foul for his use of profanity directed at the officials in protest to a no-call that was correctly judged in postgame video review,” Scott said, via Callie Caplan of the Dallas Morning News.

The league determined otherwise, given that profanity directed at officials is not an uncommon occurrence in the NBA.

Either way, the Mavs are just 7-13 since acquiring guard Kyrie Irving from the Nets in a February trade. We have more on their struggles at this link.
