NBA Rumors: Blazers, Jaylen Brown, Nets, Day’Ron Sharpe, Raptors

Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers continue to be viewed as one of the strongest potential suitors for Celtics star Jaylen Brown.

Brian Robb of MassLive examined what a deal with Portland might look like, suggesting Deni Avdija would likely be off limits and that the Blazers would also be hesitant to include promising young center Donovan Clingan because of their lack of frontcourt depth.

Instead, Robb expects any proposal to feature Jerami Grant’s contract for salary purposes, along with one of Portland’s young guards, such as Scoot Henderson or Shaedon Sharpe.

Boston, meanwhile, would almost certainly ask about defensive standout Toumani Camara.

Ultimately, the quality of the draft compensation Portland is willing to include could determine whether talks ever gain real traction.

Nets

The Nets are giving themselves a little more time with Day’Ron Sharpe.

According to Brian Lewis of the New York Post, Brooklyn and Sharpe agreed to push back Sunday’s deadline on his $6.25 million team option until Monday, allowing the organization additional flexibility before making a final decision.

The expectation remains that Sharpe will return after emerging as a bigger part of Brooklyn’s frontcourt rotation. His development reportedly played a role in the team’s decision to move Nic Claxton earlier this offseason.

Sharpe averaged career highs of 8.7 points and 6.7 rebounds in 62 games last season and is believed to be in line for an even larger role going forward.

Raptors

The Raptors are preparing for the possibility of losing Sandro Mamukelashvili.

According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, Toronto is bracing for the veteran big man to test free agency, though the organization still hopes to work out a new contract before the market officially opens.

Mamukelashvili is expected to draw interest from multiple teams and could command a sizable portion of the non-taxpayer mid-level exception, making it increasingly difficult for Toronto to keep him.
