NBA Rumors: Bucks, Bobby Portis, Bulls, draft, Pistons

Bucks

If the Bucks ultimately trade Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bobby Portis may not be far behind.

According to Tim Reynolds of The Associated Press, there is a “growing belief in some corners” around the league that any blockbuster involving Antetokounmpo could also include Portis.

That would make sense from both a basketball and salary-matching standpoint. Portis has been one of Milwaukee’s most productive reserves throughout the Giannis era, helping the franchise win the 2021 NBA championship and continuing to provide scoring and rebounding off the bench.

The veteran forward is set to earn $14.5 million next season and holds a player option worth $15.6 million for 2027-28.

Bulls

Meanwhile, the Bulls may not be done maneuvering in the draft.

Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported that there is increasing momentum behind the idea of Chicago moving up from No. 15 overall, though the extent of that move remains unclear.

Cowley suggested the Bulls could simply be targeting a small jump up the board. However, Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints reported that rival personnel believe Chicago has interest in Illinois guard Keaton Wagler.

If that’s the case, the Bulls may need to get considerably more aggressive. Wagler is widely projected to be selected well before the 15th pick, with many draft observers viewing him as a top-10 prospect.

Pistons

The Pistons appear positioned to add another young piece with the No. 21 selection.

Hunter Patterson of The Athletic recently highlighted several prospects he believes could make sense for the Pistons if they’re still available at that spot.

Stanford guard Ebuka Okorie topped Patterson’s list, as relayed by Hoops Rumors. Patterson also mentioned Duke wing Isaiah Evans, Iowa guard Bennett Stirtz, Santa Clara guard Allen Graves and Arkansas guard Meleek Thomas as players worth considering.

Detroit took a significant step forward this past season and could use the draft to continue building depth around its young core.
