NBA Rumors: Celtics, Jaylen Brown, Pistons, Norman Powell, Hawks

Celtics

The Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes may be over, but the Jaylen Brown rumors appear to be just getting started.

Speaking Tuesday on ESPN’s Get Up, Brian Windhorst suggested Brown could become one of the biggest names on the trade market after Boston missed out on Antetokounmpo.

“What I expect to happen is a bidding war for Jaylen Brown,” Windhorst said.

According to Windhorst, teams around the league have spent recent days preparing for the possibility that Milwaukee would choose another offer for Giannis, potentially leaving Brown available.

The Celtics reportedly made a strong push for Antetokounmpo, but ultimately lost out to Miami’s package of young players and draft assets. Now attention shifts to whether Boston keeps its star duo of Brown and Jayson Tatum together or explores a different direction.

Brown is coming off the best season of his career, averaging 28.7 points and earning All-NBA Second Team honors while helping keep the Celtics near the top of the Eastern Conference despite Tatum missing much of the year.

The Rockets, Hawks and Trail Blazers have all been mentioned as possible destinations if Boston listens to offers.

And Windhorst isn’t convinced the Giannis pursuit was the only reason Brown’s name surfaced.

“My guess is, even if Giannis wasn’t available, I think Jaylen Brown might be on the block this year,” he said.

Pistons

The Pistons continue searching for another scorer to place alongside Cade Cunningham, and Norman Powell has reportedly entered the conversation.

According to The Stein Line’s Marc Stein and Jake Fischer, Detroit is expected to show interest in Powell if Miami is unable to bring him back after acquiring Antetokounmpo.

Powell averaged 21.7 points and made his first All-Star team last season while shooting 47 percent from the field and 38 percent from three-point range.

The Pistons have also been linked to Coby White, Isaiah Joe, Trey Murphy III, Kyrie Irving and Austin Reaves.

Hawks

The Hawks continue to receive calls about their draft picks.

According to Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, Atlanta has been listening to offers involving both the No. 8 and No. 23 selections.

The eighth pick is still expected to stay put, but multiple teams have checked in, including Oklahoma City before the Thunder completed their Aaron Wiggins trade with Atlanta.
