NBA Rumors: Clippers, Kawhi Leonard, Lakers, LeBron James, Bucks, Giannis

Clippers

There is no clear consensus on what the Clippers should do with Kawhi Leonard. There is plenty of interest.

According to ESPN’s Tim Bontemps and Brian Windhorst, most around the league believe Los Angeles should keep Leonard as he enters the final year of his deal. The debate comes with what happens next.

One scout suggested there is no need to rush into an extension, pointing out Leonard wants to be in L.A. anyway. Another said an extension makes sense if the terms are team-friendly.

Then there is the outside view.

“One day you hear about Giannis,” an Eastern Conference executive said. “But Kawhi has been better and healthier the last two seasons. I might go Kawhi.”

That says a lot about how he is viewed right now.

Lakers

The expectation around the combine was pretty straightforward.

LeBron James is likely staying with the Lakers.

As one Western Conference scout told Bontemps, it is “hard to fit him anywhere else” at this stage. Another executive took it a step further, telling Windhorst he would give James whatever he wants on a one-year deal.

“Give him the no-trade clause,” the exec said. “Re-signing LeBron is good business.”

That is the balance for Los Angeles. Production and presence versus long-term flexibility.

Bucks

The noise around Giannis Antetokounmpo is not going away.

If anything, it is getting louder. Bontemps reports there is a growing belief across the league that Milwaukee could actually move its franchise star this offseason.

“It just feels like they’re done with the circus,” one Eastern Conference executive said. “They seem to want a clean break.”

That would shift everything. And the league is watching closely.
