Heat
The Heat never have a problem going star-hunting and that’s precisely what they should do this offseason, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
This could be a good offseason to do it, too. Giannis Antetokounmpo, Zion Williamson and Ja Morant have already seen their names spinning on the rumor mill. Miami should pursue any of them should they become available, Jackson wrote. I’d probably throw Kevin Durant in that group as well.
And there could be others, particularly regarding potential shakeups with the Celtics and 76ers.
Along with that, Jackson suggested that Bam Adebayo or Tyler Herro could be dangled if it meant acquiring a bigger-name star.
- Another Miami trade chip? Well, how about the No. 20 overall draft pick? That was something floated by Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel. The Heat could use it to acquire more picks before 2030, Winderman noted.
Hornets
- One opposing executive told Hoops Wire that he’s been led to believe Brandon Miller is the lone untouchable on Charlotte’s roster — though he doesn’t think LaMelo Ball or Miles Bridges will be moved. “No one would pay what the Hornets are surely seeking for (either player),” the executive said.
- He added that he intends to call Charlotte about the No. 4 overall pick, just to gauge what the Hornets would want in exchange. The exec added he has no idea if the Hornets are willing to move the selection.
Wizards
- The Wizards are interested in trading up or out of the No. 6 spot and are expected to be one of the more aggressive teams leading up to the draft, sources told Hoops Wire.
- Washington also owns the No. 18 pick and could package both selections with a player to bring in some quality veterans. “I don’t know that they want to add two more rookies,” one source said. “They are wildly young as is. At some point, you need to start winning games, ya know?”
