Pelicans’ Brandon Ingram Among Players Warriors Have Shown Interest

New Orleans Pelicans forward Brandon Ingram is among the players the Golden State Warriors have checked in on as they search for help ahead of the NBA trade deadline, per Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line.Brandon Ingram, John Collins, Pelicans, Jazz, NBA

“While the Warriors continue to be ambitious in the extreme with their exploration of possible trades for the likes of Kevin Durant and Jimmy Butler, league sources say Golden State has also examined the prospect of acquiring New Orleans’ Brandon Ingram,” Stein and Fischer wrote.

“Although Ingram did not have great success under Warriors coach Steve Kerr during their late summer run together at the 2023 FIBA World Cup, we’ve been told not to discount the possibility that the Warriors could pursue the one-time former All-Star playing out his current contract on an expiring $36 million salary if Golden State cannot land one of its higher-profile targets.”

The Warriors are said to be exploring multiple trades and trying to make a strong run at reuniting with Durant. They are also said to be in on the Jimmy Butler talks with the Miami Heat — though it appears those discussions haven’t gotten very far.

Ingram has only appeared in 18 games this season for the Pelicans due to injuries. He’s averaging 22.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 5.2 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.6 blocks while shooting 46.5% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 85.5% from the free-throw line.

A one-time All-Star, Ingram is making $36 million this season in the final year of his contract. He becomes an unrestricted free agent this summer.

The NBA trade deadline is Thursday at 3 p.m. EST.
