Pacers
Indiana is active in the trade market and looking for a long-term answer at center, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The Pacers have been rotating Isaiah Jackson, Jay Huff and Tony Bradley in the middle since Myles Turner left in free agency, but the front office has been surveying the league for a more permanent solution.
Indiana is starting to become competitive again — but it’s clear the organization wants stability at the five as it builds out its next phase.
Hawks
Despite months of speculation about whether the Hawks would consider moving Trae Young, the team appears focused on getting its star guard back on the floor.
Young has been out since late October with a sprained MCL, and Charania reports that Atlanta believes he will “elevate” the group once he returns.
Young is optimistic about playing again later this month. For now, Atlanta is treating this as a boost rather than a pivot point.
Nets
Brooklyn remains the lone NBA team with cap room and continues to explore ways to leverage it in trades, league sources told ESPN.
The Nets have discussed taking on salary if it brings draft capital or young talent with it. Charania adds that the organization may work with Cam Thomas’ reps to find a landing spot for the fifth-year guard.
Thomas accepted his qualifying offer in September, which gives him an implicit no-trade clause unless he approves the move.
Warriors
Charania also confirms that Golden State will explore trade scenarios involving Jonathan Kuminga, who becomes eligible to be moved on January 15.
The forward has slipped in and out of Steve Kerr’s rotation, and league executives expect the Warriors to test the market in the coming weeks.
Sacramento is among the teams being “open-minded” about roster changes, with rival clubs monitoring Domantas Sabonis, Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Keon Ellis as possible targets depending on how the Kings proceed.
