Anthony Davis hasn’t played a game for the Wizards yet, and already the trade machine is working overtime.
That’s life when you’re a future Hall of Famer on a team that appears to be building for tomorrow rather than today.

While there has been no indication Washington is actively looking to move Davis, speculation continues to surround the veteran big man as rival teams search for ways to add another star this offseason. In a recent piece for The Sporting News, Sami Haider examined several potential landing spots if the Wizards ever decide to explore that path.
Among the teams mentioned were the Rockets, who could theoretically offer a package centered on younger players such as Jabari Smith Jr. and Tari Eason. The idea, according to Haider, would be for Washington to continue building around youth while Houston adds another proven veteran alongside its emerging core.
The Timberwolves were also cited as a potential fit. In that scenario, Julius Randle could serve as a centerpiece heading to Washington, while Minnesota would add another established frontcourt force as it chases a championship.
Haider additionally floated the Clippers, Hornets and Warriors as possible destinations.
Golden State may be the most intriguing of the bunch. Haider suggested a framework involving Jimmy Butler‘s contract and the No. 11 overall pick, giving the Wizards another lottery asset while potentially pairing Davis with Stephen Curry for one final championship push.
Charlotte and Los Angeles were also discussed as teams that could pursue Davis by packaging veterans, draft capital and financial flexibility.
Obviously, all of this is simply hypothetical.
Still, Davis continues to find himself in a unique position. At 33, he remains productive enough to help a contender immediately, yet Washington’s roster is largely built around younger players and future development.
Then again, with Trae Young on the team and the No. 1 overall pick on the way, well, maybe the Wizards need to be taken more seriously next season. Keeping Davis may help toward that end.
