One NBA analyst proposed that the Oklahoma City Thunder acquire Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks this summer.
Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report proposed that the Thunder trade Isaiah Hartenstein, Cason Wallace, Nikola Topić and four first-round picks to the Bucks for Antetokounmpo.
Some believe Antetokounmpo could request a trade from Milwaukee this summer after the team lost to the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the 2025 playoffs in five games.
The Bucks have won only one postseason series since winning the 2021 championship against the Phoenix Suns.
“Shai Gilgeous-Alexander might need a higher end co-star to get over the championship hump, and Antetokounmpo could fill that role with ease,” Buckley wrote. “And, depending on how many picks Milwaukee wants, Oklahoma City might be able to do the deal without giving up Williams or Holmgren. Drop a handful of future firsts on the table, and maybe some combination of Isaiah Hartenstein, Lu Dort, Alex Caruso, Cason Wallace and Nikola Topić gets a handshake agreement done.”
A nine-time All-Star, Antetokounmpo will make $54,126,380 next season. He doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.
Antetokounmpo averaged 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds and 6.5 assists for the Bucks this season. He has spent his entire career in Milwaukee.
“It doesn’t feel good, man,” Antetokounmpo said after Game 5 of the Bucks-Pacers series. “It doesn’t feel good. I just got to look myself in the mirror and I just have to be better. I have to be better.”
The Thunder had the best record in the NBA during the regular season. However, if they don’t win a title this year, the front office may have to acquire another superstar so Gilgeous-Alexander doesn’t think about pulling a Kevin Durant and leaving OKC.
SGA led the NBA in total points and points per game this season. He’s expected to win the MVP Award. The talented guard averaged 32.7 points while shooting 51.9% from the field and 37.5% from 3.
No one knows what Antetokounmpo will do this summer. He has said many times he wants to retire with the Bucks, but the future Hall of Famer may not be able to win another title if he stays in Milwaukee.
