NBA trade proposal sends Grizzlies’ Ja Morant to Warriors

This one has a little bit of everything. Star power. Timing. Frustration on both sides. And a Warriors team suddenly staring at a very real pivot point.

Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale floated a trade that would send Grizzlies point guard Ja Morant to the Warriors, and it is not hard to see why it resonates right now. Let’s take a look:

Warriors receive

  • Ja Morant
  • Vincent Williams Jr.

Grizzlies receive

Start with Golden State. Jimmy Butler is done for the year. Kuminga wants out and has not hidden it. The Warriors still have Stephen Curry, but they do not have another downhill creator who can bend a defense every possession.

Morant does exactly that. The fit would be chaotic and electric at the same time, which honestly feels very on brand for this phase of the Warriors.

From Memphis’ side, the noise is not slowing down. League sources say there is mutual interest in separating, and Morant does not have a no-trade clause. He has also struggled to find rhythm under coach Tuomas Iisalo, particularly with constant short shifts and mass substitutions. That matters for a player who lives on feel and flow.

The return checks boxes. Young players. A pick. Flexibility. Kuminga is still 23. Moody can play. Hield helps salaries work and can be rerouted.

Morant has appeared in 19 games, averaging 19.3 points and 7.8 assists. The efficiency is down. The explosiveness is still there. Sometimes the numbers lag before the move.

This proposal is not perfect. None of them are. But it feels timely. And those are usually the ones that can stick.
