Nets One of More Active Teams Ahead of Trade Deadline

The Nets have been actively seeking trades ahead of the Feb. 9 deadline, with guard/forward Joe Harris, and guards Patty Mills and Seth Curry among the possibilities, per Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer.Joe Harris

Those three are perhaps Brooklyn’s most likely trade candidates “because of their short-term salaries and the fact that they’ve been playing lesser roles lately,” O’Connor wrote.

League sources have told Hoops Wire that guard Edmond Sumner is also drawing interest.

Harris, 31, is 6-foot-6 and is averaging 8.4 points on 40 percent shooting, including 45 percent on 3-pointers, in 40 games through Wednesday.

Curry, 32, is 6-2 and averaging 10.8 points on 47 percent shooting and 43 percent on threes. He has played 35 games. The Nets are Curry’s eighth team.

Mills, 34, is 6-1 and averaging 5.5 points in 27 appearances — his lowest scoring average since his second season of 2010-11 while with the Spurs. He is shooting 45 percent overall and 41 percent from beyond the arc.

As O’Connor noted, Harris is on an $18.6 million contract, while Curry is making $8.5 million and Mills is at $6.5 million.

Sumner, 27, is 6-4 and is averaging 6.4 points and shooting 45 percent. He signed with the Nets before the season and is making about $2.3 million. He averaged a career-high 7.5 points on 58 percent shooting with the Pacers in 2020-21.
