Nuggets’ Aaron Gordon reportedly drawing trade interest

If the Nuggets end up making a significant trade this summer, rival teams apparently know where they’d like Denver to start: Aaron Gordon.

According to Marc Stein of The Stein Line, Gordon has emerged as one of the most sought-after players on the Nuggets’ roster as teams around the league look for ways to improve heading into next season.

It’s easy to understand why.

When healthy, Gordon does a little bit of everything. He defends multiple positions, finishes around the basket, knocks down enough outside shots to keep defenses honest and has become one of Nikola Jokic’s favorite teammates.

In other words, he’s exactly the type of player contenders are always trying to find.

The problem for Denver is that Gordon may also be exactly the type of player it can’t afford to lose.

The Nuggets are once again facing a challenging salary-cap situation as they attempt to remain in the championship mix around Jokic. According to Stein, Denver would prefer to keep both Gordon and Jamal Murray, with younger wing Christian Braun viewed by some around the league as a more realistic trade candidate.

That’s not to say Gordon is untouchable. In today’s NBA, almost everyone has a price.

But if the Nuggets are serious about maximizing what’s left of Jokic’s prime, moving one of his most trusted teammates wouldn’t be an easy decision.
