Nuggets’ Jamal Murray to Miss Time With Hamstring Injury

Nuggets guard Jamal Murray is expected to miss time after suffering a right hamstring strain, coach Michael Malone said, via Bennett Durando of the Denver Post.Jamal Murray

“We’ll kind of continue to talk to our doctors, but his injury is not a one- or two-game injury,” Malone said. “That’s what I do know. This will be something that will be longer than we would like. … You have to have the big picture in mind and make sure we’re putting him in position to get healthy before he comes back. Because this is an injury that, if you keep having recurring hamstring injuries or soft tissue injuries, they can linger and become even worse. And that’s the one thing we do not want to happen.”

Murray sustained the injury in Saturday’s home win over the Bulls, per Durando.

“It was in the second quarter, and (Murray) went to push off and just felt something in his hamstring,” Malone said.

In seven games so far this season, Murray is averaging 16.3 points and 7.4 assists, shooting 43 percent from the field and 44 percent on 3-pointers.

Without him, the Nuggets will rely on the likes of Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Christian Braun and Reggie Jackson to add a little more scoring punch.
