The Pacers continue to make guard Malcolm Brogdon and center Myles Turner available ahead of this week’s NBA Draft, as relayed by Shams Charania of The Athletic.
This follows a similar report from Jake Fischer of Bleacher Report, as our Alejandro Avila relayed last week.
Brogdon is widely considered one of the NBA’s most underrated point guards, a true pro and player who leads by example. That said, he has had trouble staying healthy. Last season, he appeared in just 36 games, averaging 19.1 points and 5.9 assists.
Multiple reports have linked Brogdon to the Knicks and especially the Wizards, who are looking for a backcourt-mate for Bradley Beal.
Meanwhile, Turner has been at the center of trade rumors for two or three years running and yet remained with Indiana. There is a sense the Pacers would like to keep him as a running mate for promising young guard Tyrese Haliburton. But there are also money matters to consider.
“The Pacers will have to be in the mindset of giving Turner an extension sooner than later and cement the 26-year-old as an integral part of their direction, which now hinges more on the young talent than the vets,” Avila wrote. “Otherwise, Turner — due $18 million this upcoming season — staying past February’s trade deadline may eventually leave the Pacers without compensation.”
The Hornets are one team that has consistently approached the Pacers about Turner, and have done so again, as relayed by RealGM. Charlotte is supposedly willing to part with its No. 15 overall pick in trades. The Raptors are also among the teams that might have an interest, per reports.
Turner averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks in 42 appearances for the Pacers.
