Tyrese Haliburton is expected to enter Pacers training camp without restrictions after missing all of last season with a torn Achilles.
“I think he’s going to be one-hundred percent full go,” general manager Chad Buchanan said at the Pacers Foundation Invitational, via Alex Golden of Pacers On SI. “We’re relying on our medical staff if there’s a day they need to scale back on him, but there’s gonna be no restrictions right away for him.”
That is the news Indiana has been waiting to hear. The Pacers went from Game 7 of the 2025 NBA Finals to a 19-63 record without Haliburton last season. Getting their point guard back gives them a chance to look like themselves again, even if it takes some time.
Assistant general manager Ted Wu said Haliburton’s recovery did not have one dramatic turning point. His confidence grew steadily throughout the summer.
“I think this week we’ve seen the best version of that,” Wu said. “There’s more progress to be made once the training camp starts.”
The Pacers will also be working new center Ivica Zubac into the lineup. Buchanan said Haliburton and coach Rick Carlisle have shown they can figure out how to get the most from different teammates, but he cautioned against judging the new group too quickly.
“You hope by 25-30 games in you start to see some signs of whether it’s clicking or it’s not,” Buchanan said. “If we get off to a slow start after ten games, that’s just not a prudent way to approach this group.”
Haliburton can participate fully when camp opens. After a year away, that is a big first step. Finding the Pacers’ old rhythm will be the work of the season.
