Pacers Likely Still Looking To Trade Myles Turner

While the Pacers failed to land Deandre Ayton, the fact they even tried may indicate that center Myles Turner is on the way out, per James Boyd of the Indianapolis Star.Myles Turner

Indiana offered Ayton a four-year deal worth $133 million — the largest offer sheet in NBA history. It led to some speculation of a sign-and-trade arrangement that would send Turner to the Suns and Ayton back to the Pacers. But the Suns decided to match the offer and keep Ayton.

Turner has been the subject of trade rumors for several years running. A couple years back, he was linked to the Cavaliers at the trade deadline. More recently, he has been linked to the Hornets, repeatedly so.

Those teams very well may longer be interested, but as Boyd wrote, there is likely still a market for him. For one, he has an expiring $17.5 million contract — and that’s always appealing. The Pacers could use Turner’s deal to pursue trades for others with expiring deals, Boyd noted.

Turner averaged 12.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks in 42 appearances last season. He missed the final 39 games with a left foot stress reaction.
