Pacers Not Planning To Trade Buddy Hield

While some reports have the Pacers flipping some of their recent acquisitions ahead of Thursday’s trade deadline, it appears they intend to keep shooting guard Buddy Hield, part of their deal with the Kings.Buddy Hield

Per Zach Lowe of ESPN, Hield is already drawing interest, but the Pacers are not looking to trade him. Instead, Hield will join a backcourt that now includes Tyrese Haliburton, rookie Chris Duarte and veteran Malcolm Brogdon.

Hield and Haliburton were acquired in a deal that sent power forward Domantas Sabonis, guard/forward Justin Holiday and shooting guard Jeremy Lamb to Sacramento.

It followed a trade in which the Pacers sent guard Caris LeVert to the Cavaliers in exchange for injured guard Ricky Rubio, a first-round pick and a pair of second-rounders. There has been some talk that the Pacers could flip Rubio’s expiring contract, as he is out for the season.

As for Hield, he seems in Indiana to stay, at least for the rest of this season and probably next. “Hield is due $20.5 million in 22-23 and $18.6 million in 23-24,” RealGM noted.
