Peacock’s NBA games coming to YouTube Premium in 2027

NBA games carried by Peacock will soon have another home.

NBCUniversal and Google have reached a distribution agreement that will make Peacock programming available to YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States beginning in early 2027, according to Reuters.

That programming will include select live sporting events, including NBA and NFL games.

As The Athletic’s Mike Vorkunov noted, the NBA should welcome the expanded reach. YouTube Premium has more than 125 million subscribers, compared to approximately 48 million for Peacock, though access details and potential additional costs have not yet been announced.

The agreement also extends YouTube TV’s multiyear deal to carry NBC broadcasts.

NBC and Peacock are entering their second season as NBA media partners under the league’s latest national television contract. Making those games more accessible through YouTube could help viewers who don’t want to continually move between streaming services.

This is separate from the NBA’s effort to create a centralized platform for local broadcasts.

YouTube has also emerged as the favorite to host that service beginning with the 2027-28 season, according to Tom Friend of Sports Business Journal. The proposed platform could eventually house regional broadcasts for more than 20 teams, though local games would likely remain subject to geographic restrictions.

Put it all together, and YouTube’s role in distributing NBA games continues to grow.

It won’t necessarily become the one-stop destination for every game. But beginning in 2027, it could become a much more important part of how fans watch the league.
