Report: 76ers Frustrated With Joel Embiid’s Unavailability

According to NBA insider Shams Charania of ESPN, the Philadelphia 76ers are frustrated with Joel Embiid‘s unavailability.

One of the best players in the NBA when healthy, Embiid has only played in 13 games this season.

Embiid is currently out with a left knee injury. It’s unknown when the seven-time All-Star will play again.

The Sixers are only 15-27 on the season. They are in 11th place in the Eastern Conference standings. Due to injuries, Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey haven’t shared the court that much

Embiid is averaging 24.4 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.0 blocks this season while shooting 45.2% from the field, 32.7% from beyond the arc and 92.0% from the free-throw line.

A two-time scoring champion, Embiid is making $51.4 million this season. In September, he signed a three-year, $192 million extension with the Sixers. The extension kicks in 2026.

Embiid has career averages of 27.8 points, 11.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.9 steals and 1.6 blocks. He’s made five All-NBA teams and three All-Defensive teams.

The 30-year-old Embiid won the 2023 MVP Award. However, he’s never advanced past the second round of the playoffs in his career.

The Sixers were projected to compete for the championship this season with Embiid, George and Maxey leading the way. However, if the season ended today, Philadelphia wouldn’t even be in the play-in tournament.
