The NBA is suspending Detroit Pistons big man Isaiah Stewart for three games for punching Phoenix Suns forward Drew Eubanks.

Stewart punched Eubanks on February 14 before the Suns hosted the Pistons at The Footprint Center.

Stewart was arrested for assault after punching Eubanks in the face. The Pistons big man was issued a citation and released.

Stewart infamously got into a brawl with Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James during the 2021-22 season. Suns star Kevin Durant said it was unfortunate what happened between Stewart and Eubanks.

“Keep the game first,” Durant said. “It’s unfortunate what happened before the game, it’s supposed to be a brotherhood. But I also understand, dudes get into stuff. We try to avoid that in this league, hopefully we can move on from it. We all support Drew.”

Stewart is averaging 11.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists on the season for the Pistons while shooting 47.0% from the field, 37.4% from beyond the arc and 74.6% from the free-throw line. Detroit has the worst record in the NBA at 8-46.

Meanwhile, Eubanks is averaging 5.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.9 assists for the Suns while shooting 62.6% overall and 73.5% from the foul line. Phoenix is in sixth place in the Western Conference standings with a record of 33-22.

The Pistons signed Stewart to a four-year, $60 million extension last July, while the Suns signed Eubanks to a two-year, $5 million contract.

Detroit opens the second half of the season tonight (2/22) against the Indiana Pacers. Meanwhile, Phoenix takes on the Dallas Mavericks.
