When you lose 23 straight games, anything is possible. At least, anything is when it comes to roster changes.
That is where the Detroit Pistons stand today — losing every game and contemplating how to stop the bleeding. One of those methods is to start fresh, trade some players and bring in a few more veterans.
Perhaps that is on the mind of team ownership and the front office. If so, you could hardly blame them.
Anyway, per James Edwards III of The Athletic, the Pistons are expected to be active ahead of the Feb. 8 trade deadline, with targets potentially including the likes of Philadelphia 76es forward Tobias Harris — who just happens to be a former Piston.
Harris is a pro’s pro, but that is why the 76ers like him. Plus, the Sixers are a contender. It’s hard to envision them wanting to trade a starter for no real reason. Unless, of course, they could get Pistons forward Bojan Bogdanovic (and other assets) in return.
Of course, that’s just one entirely hypothetical idea. By all accounts, contenders intend to make trade pitches for Bogdanovic, guard/forward Alec Burks and several others currently on Detroit’s roster. Rumor has it that point guard Jaden Ivey and center James Wiseman are among those who are available, too.
Or as one Pistons insider told Hoops Wire, when you lose 22 straight, everyone is available for the right price.
So yes, the Pistons may indeed want to start anew. And why not? Things couldn’t get much worse and as it stands, the future’s not real bright, either.
