Raptors pick up options on Collin Murray-Boyles, Ja’Kobe Walter

The Raptors have secured another season for two of their young rotation players.

Toronto exercised its 2027-28 team options on forward Collin Murray-Boyles and wing Ja’Kobe Walter, the team announced Tuesday, via Blake Murphy of Sportsnet. Murray-Boyles’ third-year option is worth approximately $6.97 million, while Walter’s fourth-year option comes in at $5.87 million.

Both are expected to contribute to a team that added Kawhi Leonard over the summer and is looking to make a deeper playoff run.

Murray-Boyles, the No. 9 pick in the 2025 draft, earned All-Rookie second-team honors after averaging 8.5 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 21.9 minutes per game. He then gave Toronto considerably more against the Cavaliers in the playoffs.

During that seven-game first-round loss, Murray-Boyles averaged 14.4 points, 6.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists off the bench, shooting 65.6% from the field. It was an encouraging finish for a player who had already established himself in the rotation.

Walter, 22, has appeared in 124 regular-season games since Toronto selected him No. 19 overall in 2024. His shooting improved last season, when he connected on 44.6% from the field and 40.9% from three-point range.

The decisions also set up different contract timelines. Walter will become eligible for a rookie extension next July, while the Raptors have until November 1, 2027, to decide on Murray-Boyles’ $8.87 million option for 2028-29.

They were Toronto’s only players with rookie-scale team options for the 2027-28 season.
