The Heat may not be finished reshaping their roster.
According to the Miami Herald, Miami has “strong interest” in acquiring Mavericks guard Klay Thompson as the organization continues its aggressive offseason.
The report added that the Heat’s interest in Thompson exists whether or not they ultimately land free-agent forward LeBron James.

Miami has already made the biggest splash of the summer by acquiring Giannis Antetokounmpo and has been repeatedly linked to James, who remains unsigned. Adding Thompson would give the Heat another proven perimeter shooter to pair with Giannis and Bam Adebayo.
Thompson, 36, is entering the final season of his contract and is scheduled to earn $17.5 million in 2026-27.
After spending the first 11 seasons of his career with the Warriors, Thompson joined Dallas in 2024. He averaged 11.7 points while shooting 38.3 percent from three-point range in 69 games last season.
The Mavericks are entering a new era built around reigning Rookie of the Year Cooper Flagg and the return of Kyrie Irving, who missed last season while recovering from a torn ACL. Whether Thompson remains part of those plans remains to be seen.
