Report: Heat Unlikely To Land Suns’ Kevin Durant

While the Miami Heat are reportedly among the teams interested in Kevin Durant, it’s unlikely they land him, per Arizona Sports’ John Gambadoro and Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

The well-sourced Phoenix talk show host @Gambo987 reported on air today and reiterated to me just now that he was told it is unlikely that the Heat will get Durant. (Not with Heat offer.)

Phoenix is expected to trade Durant sometime before the NBA Draft on June 25. Earlier reports suggested that his wish list included the Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets.

But another report suggested Phoenix may or may not send Durant to one of those teams.

Either way, in the event you’re already suffering from Durant Rumors exhaustion … well, it’s probably not going to calm down this week.

Why the Heat aren’t likely to get Durant wasn’t made clear, though we can assume it may have something to do with what the Suns are seeking in return. We can also assume Miami isn’t offering it (at the moment).

Durant turns 37 in September. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.2 assists for the Suns this season while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.

The Suns missed the playoffs and play-in tournament this year.

Durant has one year left on his contract. He has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and Suns, compiling career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists.
