According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and Minnesota Timberwolves are more “motivated” to acquire Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant than the San Antonio Spurs.
Durant wants to play for the Spurs, who have Victor Wembanyama, De’Aaron Fox, Stephon Castle and the second overall pick in this year’s NBA Draft.
However, it appears Houston, Miami and Minnesota are pursuing Durant more aggressively than San Antonio.
“The Rockets and the Heat are more realistic as of right now for Kevin Durant..
There’s more motivated teams than the Spurs..
What the other teams are offering is just a little bit more aggressive” ~ @ShamsCharania #PMSLive https://t.co/qWwfjIuRHH pic.twitter.com/JVn7LQ6A58

If Durant can’t get to the Spurs, he’s open to playing for the Rockets or Heat.
For whatever reason, Durant doesn’t want to play for the Timberwolves, but the Suns can trade KD anywhere since the NBA legend doesn’t have a no-trade clause in his contract.
Durant has one year left on his contract. The Toronto Raptors famously traded for Kawhi Leonard in 2018, even though Leonard didn’t want to play with them.
That blockbuster trade worked out very well, as Leonard guided the Raptors to the 2019 title. Leonard then left for the Los Angeles Clippers.
A top 75 player of all time, Durant tore his right Achilles tendon in Game 5 of the 2019 NBA Finals between the Raptors and Golden State Warriors. He signed with the Brooklyn Nets in the summer of 2019 and missed the entire 2019-20 season.
Durant played in 62 games for the Suns this season. He averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.2 blocks while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from beyond the arc and 83.9% from the free-throw line.
A future Hall of Famer, Durant has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Warriors, Nets and Suns. He has career averages of 27.2 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.1 blocks in 1,123 NBA games.
Durant won the 2014 MVP Award with OKC and back-to-back titles and Finals MVPs with Golden State in 2017 and 2018.
Durant is also a four-time scoring champion.
