Rockets, Hornets not currently pursuing Jaylen Brown trade

The Rockets and Hornets aren’t actively pursuing a trade for Celtics star Jaylen Brown.

According to Marc Stein and Jake Fischer of The Stein Line, neither Houston nor Charlotte is currently engaged in discussions with Boston despite both teams being linked to Brown in recent speculation.

The Rockets make for an intriguing possibility given coach Ime Udoka‘s history with Brown, as Udoka helped lead the Celtics to the 2022 NBA Finals. Houston also has a roster that could appeal to Boston, with the Celtics known to have interest in center Alperen Sengun.

Charlotte, meanwhile, owns significant draft capital after trading LaMelo Ball to the Timberwolves earlier this week.

Of course, situations can change quickly around the NBA. The Rockets publicly downplayed their pursuit of Kevin Durant before ultimately acquiring him once the asking price came down.

Brown is eligible to sign a two-year, $141.8 million contract extension in July. According to Stein and Fischer, the Trail Blazers remain the team most frequently linked to Boston in trade discussions involving the four-time All-Star.
