Rockets forward Jae’Sean Tate has appeared in just three games this season, and it doesn’t appear as if that will change anytime soon.
Tate is likely to miss at least 2-3 more weeks with the sore ankle that has kept him sidelined, coach Stephen Silas said, via Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle.
Tate is widely considered the Rockets’ best defender, especially when it comes to the perimeter. The Rockets have shown promise at times, but are clearly lacking defensively, especially in the game’s most crucial moments.
Tate, 27, is 6-foot-4 and missed the first four games of the season. He then played in three before being shut down with the ankle issue. He averaged career-highs of 11.8 points and 5.7 rebounds in 78 games last season.
Now in his third year, Tate went undrafted out of Ohio State in 2020. He is a native of Toledo and played high school basketball at Pickerington Central.
