Rockets could pursue Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid this summer

The Rockets could again be a team to watch on the trade market.

Houston has been linked to potential pursuits of Kawhi Leonard, Donovan Mitchell, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid this offseason, according to Kelly Iko of Yahoo Sports. All four are All-Stars and none holds a no-trade clause.

Leonard and Mitchell are entering the final year of their deals, each set to earn about $50 million next season. Antetokounmpo and Embiid are both under longer-term contracts, each north of $57 million annually.

The Rockets already made a major swing last summer, acquiring Kevin Durant from the Suns. That move did not translate in the playoffs, as Houston fell to the Lakers in six games in the first round. Durant appeared in just one game in the series.

Houston still went 52-30 in the regular season behind Durant, Alperen Sengun, Jabari Smith Jr. and Amen Thompson.

Sengun acknowledged the uncertainty that can come with an aggressive front office.

“I cannot do anything about those conversations,” he said. “That’s the front office’s job.”

The Rockets have not shied away from big trades in the past, landing James Harden, Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook and Durant in separate deals.

Another aggressive move may not be off the table.
