The 76ers have made the move they needed to complete their offseason plans.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, Philadelphia has traded forward Johni Broome and a 2027 second-round pick to the Clippers in exchange for cash considerations.
The deal clears a roster spot and enough financial flexibility for the Sixers to sign veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope while remaining below the NBA’s first-apron hard cap.
Philadelphia had been exploring ways to move Broome, with Jake Fischer of The Stein Line recently reporting the Sixers were shopping the rookie as they looked to create room for Caldwell-Pope.
Rather than waive Jabari Walker, whose contract is only partially guaranteed, the Sixers opted to part with Broome and attach a future second-round pick to complete the deal.
Fischer reported the Clippers will receive the second-most favorable of Philadelphia’s three 2027 second-round selections. Law Murray of The Athletic added the Sixers will receive $1 million in cash.
The move all but clears the runway for Caldwell-Pope’s expected arrival after he finalized a buyout with the Grizzlies.
