Sixers Notes: Harris, Simmons, Curry, Joe

Tobias Harris is experiencing fatigue and congestion after being placed in the NBA’s COVID health and safety protocol, and the 76ers forward and second-leading scorer could miss up to 10 days, per Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer.Tobias Harris

Obviously, that’s not the only thing impacting the Sixers these days. Ben Simmons continues to seek a trade, Joel Embiid is experiencing knee soreness and Danny Green is expected to be out a while with a hamstring issue.

Along with all that, ESPN’s Adrian Wojarowski reported little-used guard Isaiah Joe has also entered health and safety protocols, and now the entire team will be tested.

Still, the 76ers have somehow managed to win six of their first eight games.

“Our motto the whole preseason and this season, too, is next man up,” guard Shake Milton said, via Pompey. “It doesn’t matter who’s in the lineup, as long as we are staying strong in our principles and being very detailed about what we do. I think we have a good chance of winning each time we step on the floor.”

More from Philadelphia

  • In case you missed it, the Simmons situation appears no closer to being resolved. He reportedly told president of basketball operations Daryl Morey he is not yet mentally ready to play. Along with that, Pompey reported sources as saying that Simmons still does not intend to play for Philadelphia again.
  • Seth Curry is off to a red-hot start, averaging a career-high 17.1 points through the first eight games. His scoring has helped to replace the loss of Simmons, and now Harris. Tom West of SB Nation has more on Steph Curry‘s younger brother.
