Sixers Officially Sign Danny Green

The 76ers have officially signed shooting guard Danny Green, president of basketball operations Daryl Morey announced in a press release.Danny Green

While terms weren’t revealed by the team, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported Green is receiving a one-year contract. It is likely for the veteran’s minimum.

Green, 36, spent last season with the Cavaliers, averaging 6.5 points and shooting 45 percent on 3-pointers in eight games. He also played for the Sixers from 2020-22, as well as served stints with the Raptors, Lakers, Grizzlies and most notably the Spurs.

Green is currently 39th on the all-time NBA 3-point list with 1577 career-made threes. He is also ninth in career playoff 3-point field goals with 315 made threes in the postseason.

His previous connection to the 76ers’ organization and new head coach Nick Nurse, who he won a championship with in 2019, is the main reason for the team welcoming him back. Throughout Green’s career, he has established himself as a reliable role player who can make open shots and play solid defense on winning teams.

The Sixers are currently deciding what to do about James Harden, who requested a trade, and Green recently commented on the situation.

“There’s not many things that shock me, but to see a star player like James Harden, call out by name, Daryl Morey and speaking from his own mouth,” Green said on ESPN’s NBA Today, via Ky Carlin of Sixers Wire. “For him speak it, you can tell he’s agitated. He’s upset. It was shocking. I was very shocked by it, but I do see both sides.”
