Sixers to Match Jazz Offer Sheet for Paul Reed

The 76ers are matching the three-year, $23 million offer for big man Paul Reed made by the Jazz, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Paul Reed

The final two years of the contract become guaranteed if the Sixers win in the first round of the playoffs this season, Wojnarowski added.

Reed, 24, was the main backup to All-Star center Joel Embiid last season, appearing in 69 games and offering some determined defense down low. He doesn’t shoot or score much, but his strength, hustle and energy proved to be underrated assets in the Sixers’ second unit.

Along with Reed, the Sixers re-signed veteran Montrezl Harrell (story) and brought in center Mo Bamba (story) to help in the frontcourt.

“Reed, the 58th pick in the 2020 NBA draft, ranked in the Top 10 in offensive rebounding percentage last season, according to ESPN Stats and Information research,” Wojnarowski wrote.
