The 76ers and Thunder have struck a deal that sends Jared McCain to Oklahoma City, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.

Philadelphia will receive Houston’s 2026 first-round pick, which is controlled by the Thunder, plus three second-rounders.

Those seconds include a 2027 pick that will be the most favorable of Oklahoma City, Houston, Indiana and Miami, along with OKC’s own 2028 second and Milwaukee’s 2028 second, per Kyle Neubeck of PHLY Sports.

McCain, who turns 22 later this month, was the 16th overall pick in the 2024 draft and looked like a hit early.

The former Duke guard averaged 15.3 points in 23 games as a rookie, shooting efficiently and carving out a steady role before a season-ending knee injury shut him down.

His return was further delayed when he required surgery after suffering ligament damage in his thumb.

From Philadelphia’s perspective, this is a value play and a timeline play. The Sixers convert a young guard with real upside but real medical questions into a first-round asset that can either be used or flipped again.

For the Thunder, it’s another bet on talent, patience and development, all while staying flexible.

There may be more coming. Jake Fischer of The Stein Line reports that Thunder forward Ousmane Dieng could be involved in a related move, with momentum on a deal that would send him to the Hornets for Mason Plumlee.

If that materializes, it would help Oklahoma City stay below the luxury tax, a familiar theme for a front office that rarely makes one move in isolation.
