Spurs Signing Tyler Johnson To 10-Day Deal

The Spurs are signing guard Tyler Johnson to a 10-day contract, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.Tyler Johnson

Johnson, 29, is 6-foot-3 and had a 10-day deal with the 76ers last month and appeared in three games, averaging 3.7 points and 2.0 rebounds.

He played 29 games for the Nets last season, averaging 5.4 points and 2.0 rebounds. He has also spent time with the Suns and the Heat since entering the NBA in 2014.

Overall, Johnson had appeared in 348 games at the end of last season, but went unsigned after his deal expired during the summer.

The Spurs currently have two players in health and safety protocols — small forward Doug McDermott and shooting guard Lonnie Walker IV.

Wednesday became the first day that teams could sign players to regular 10-day deals, as opposing to the hardship contracts that we’ve seen during the COVID surge around the league in December.
