The move comes a little less than a week after the team signed him to an Exhibit 10 training camp contract.
McCoy, 25, is 6-foot-5 and spent last season as a rookie with the South Bay Lakers of the G League, averaging 14.2 points, 3.8 rebounds and 3.6 assists in 26 games. He went undrafted out of Boston University in 2022.
He originally signed with the Lakers in July 2022, but was waived in October before the start of the regular season.
This past July, McCoy signed with the Spurs for Summer League, appearing in six games.
He very well could be headed to the G League, this time with the Austin Spurs. Should McCoy remain with them for at least 60 days, he could be eligible for a $75,000 bonus to go with his G League salary.
San Antonio’s preseason roster stands at 20 following the move.
