The Bulls’ signing of forward Stanley Johnson is now official, the team announced in a press release.
Johnson’s contract is nonguaranteed, per Bobby Marks of ESPN.
Johnson was the first of three signings in three days for Chicago, joining forward Alize Johnson and shooting guard Matt Thomas (full story).
Per Marks, Alize Johnson has a $250,000 guarantee if he’s not waived by Oct. 19. The second year of his deal has a guarantee date of July 2, Marks noted. Meanwhile, Thomas’ contract is also nonguaranteed.
So as of now, the Bulls have 13 players on guaranteed deals, with room for more.
Stanley Johnson, 25, appeared in 61 games with the Raptors last season, averaging 4.4 points and 2.5 rebounds and making a name for himself with defense. He was originally drafted by the Pistons with the No. 8 overall pick in 2015.
In recent weeks, he had been working out with Nets players and members of the team’s coaching staff in Los Angeles, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
