Stephen Curry: Warriors’ loss to Grizzlies could cost him sleep

The Warriors led by 12 with less than four minutes left. They had Stephen Curry on the floor and their first win within reach.

Then, as Curry put it, “pretty much everything went wrong.”

Golden State missed its final nine shots and surrendered a 17-0 run in Friday’s 111-108 home loss to the Grizzlies. The Warriors are 0-2, and this one figures to follow them to Phoenix.

“There’s losses,” Curry said, via Evan Webeck of the California Post, “and there’s ways that you lose like tonight that sting a little bit more.”

Steve Kerr counted “like eight different things” that had to go wrong. “I think if any one of those eight doesn’t happen, we win the game. It was just an avalanche.”

That included a late illegal screen on Draymond Green, a call Kerr described as “shocking.” But nine straight misses gave Memphis plenty of help, too.

Now comes Saturday’s visit to the Suns. Curry said he will “probably not” play, while Brandin Podziemski also said he’ll sit out. That makes wasting a game with both available harder to swallow.

“Everybody says there’s another game tomorrow,” Curry said. “But the idea of how important every game is for us … and the fact that we gave one away like this, you might lose a little sleep over it.”

Kerr preferred to look ahead.

“There’s 80 [more] games. We’ve lost a couple. We’ll bounce back,” he said.

Preferably before these become the ones they wish they had back.
