Suns’ Chris Paul Expected to Make Return

Suns point guard Chris Paul is expected to return to action in Wednesday night’s home game vs. the Celtics, per Chris Haynes of Bleacher Report.Chris Paul

Paul has missed the past 14 games with heel soreness, meaning he last played on Nov. 7. Barring a last minute setback, he will indeed take the court on Wednesday, Haynes noted.

The Suns (16-8) have won nine of the 14 games Paul missed after a 7-3 start to the season. They lead the Pelicans by a half-game for first in the Western Conference standings, and lead the second-place Clippers by 2.5 games in the Pacific Division.

Paul, 37, has appeared in 10 games in all, averaging a career-low 9.5 points and 9.4 assists, and shooting 37 percent from the field.

Backup Cameron Payne has been pretty good in Paul’s absence, with averages of 15.1 points and 7.3 assists, shooting 40 percent on 3-pointers, in 14 starts.
