Suns’ Devin Booker: No one takes what Eric Gordon said personally

“Early on in the season, it was better. And lately, there just hasn’t been an emphasis [to get me more looks],” Gordon said after taking just two shots in Friday’s loss to the Kings. “So, it’s definitely different. Lately, I haven’t been getting hardly any touches really.

“No question. Everybody knows the type of player I am and what I’m about. I came here to win, but what I do is score. And I think when I score, it really opens up the door for a lot of people because I can score in big games and in big ways. That’s just what it is.”

In some instances, that might stir up a little locker room drama. Not for the Suns. They’re all pros, and well aware that not everything during a season is all rainbows and unicorns.

“Nobody takes what he said personal around here,” guard Devin Booker said, via Duane Rankin of the Arizona Republic. “He’s been in this a long time. He’s earned that respect and he has the talent to do what he said.”

When you have a team with Booker, Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal (when healthy) and the rest, you can afford to take some bumps early and be at your best when it means the most. But sometimes, it takes another veteran voice to help get you there. That’s really the role Gordon was playing.
