The Suns are signing center/forward Bol Bol to a one-year guaranteed contract, per Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Bol was waived by the Magic back on July 5, just before his $2.2 million contract was set to become guaranteed.
He averaged 9.1 points and 5.8 rebounds on 55 percent shooting in 70 games last season.
The Magic explored several Bol trades ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft, with the Suns being among the teams that expressed interest at the time.
Now, he will be joining a team that’s been particularly active this offseason, having acquired star shooting guard Bradley Beal from the Wizards, and as we relayed here, are trading point guard Cameron Payne to the Spurs.
They also worked out a trade for three second-round draft picks from the Magic, in exchange for a 2026 first-round pick swap. (Full story)
Bol, 23, is now expected to serve as a backup for star forward Kevin Durant and center Deandre Ayton. The Suns also added forwards Yuta Watanabe (Nets) and Keita Bates-Diop (Spurs) and big man Drew Eubanks (Trail Blazers) in free agency. In the backcourt, they added guard Eric Gordon (Clippers).
In total from the Suns:
– Bol Bol signed on a one-year fully guaranteed deal
– Acquired three second-rounders from Orlando for a pick swap
– Traded Payne, a second and cash to Spurs for a future second https://t.co/8YBQvolRk2— Shams Charania (@ShamsCharania) July 16, 2023
