The Suns are moving on from veteran forward Haywood Highsmith.
Phoenix waived Highsmith on Wednesday, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. He had a $3 million salary for the 2026-27 season, with $1 million guaranteed.
Highsmith, 29, appeared in just seven games for the Suns last season, averaging 5.4 points and 1.9 rebounds in 13 minutes. Phoenix signed him in February after he had been waived by the Nets.
His limited availability came after undergoing knee surgery during the 2025 offseason.
Highsmith has shown he can be a useful rotation piece when healthy, particularly during his time with the Heat. He averaged 6.4 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists while appearing in 74 games for Miami in 2024-25.
Now he’ll head back to the open market, where his defense and experience could draw some interest from teams looking to fill out the back end of their rosters.
