The Thunder have signed Buddy Boeheim and waived Dariq Whitehead, the team announced Saturday, continuing a busy stretch of moves involving their G League players.
Whitehead signed an Exhibit 10 contract Friday and is expected to return to the Oklahoma City Blue. His departure opened a spot for Boeheim, who received the same type of deal.
Boeheim, 26, averaged 15.6 points, 4.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists in 18 games for the Blue last season. The 6-foot-5 wing attempted 10.6 shots from beyond the arc per game, making 37.2 percent.
That’s plenty of volume, and outside shooting remains his main selling point. Boeheim has appeared in 24 NBA regular-season games across three seasons.
His latest stay on the Thunder’s roster is expected to be brief. If waived, Boeheim can earn an Exhibit 10 bonus of up to $91,000 by spending at least 60 days with the Blue.
Whitehead, a former first-round pick, averaged 11.0 points and 2.9 rebounds in 34 appearances for the affiliate last season.
Both moves appear geared toward getting familiar players back to the Blue rather than changing the Thunder’s opening-night rotation.
