The Minnesota Timberwolves have been on the lookout for a backup point guard and apparently, they’ve found their man.Monte Morris

Per Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Timberwolves are finalizing a trade for guard Monte Morris in a deal with the Pistons.

Morris, 28, is 6-foot-2 and has played a limited role in Detroit after being acquired from the Washington Wizards in the offseason. So far, Morris has appeared in just six games with the Pistons.

In exchange for Morris, the Timberwolves will send point guard Shake Milton, shooting guard Troy Brown Jr. and a second-round pick to Detroit, Charania noted.

Minnesota reportedly had been looking for a backup point guard and had also been linked to Tyus Jones of the Washington Wizards and Kyle Lowry, who isn’t expected to remain with the Charlotte Hornets.

Along with the Pistons and Wizards, Morris spent the first five years of his career with the Denver Nuggets. He carries career averages of 10.4 points, 4.0 assists and 2.5 rebounds.

Last season with Washington, he averaged 10.3 points, 5.3 assists and 3.0 rebounds, shooting 48 percent from the field and 38 percent on 3-pointers in 62 appearances.
