While Giannis Antetokounmpo basically has been linked to all 30 NBA teams and probably a few overseas, it sounds like we can now eliminate the Timberwolves.
Per Chris Hine of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the Wolves aren’t really in the running.
“My quick $0.02 on yesterday … that Giannis Antetokounmpo update felt like Milwaukee trying to drum up more of a market at the 11th hour before having to make a call,” Hine posted to X. “(At least that’s how it was viewed after checking in w/ some folks). Get the sense any Wolves-Giannis deal still very unlikely.”

Antetokounmpo is mostly strongly linked to the Heat. Others, such as the Cavaliers and Celtics are also spinning on the rumor mill. Staying with the Bucks isn’t outside the realm of possibility, either. It may not be splashy, but according to Hoops Wire sources, Milwaukee is indeed an option.
Either way, Bucks co-owner Jimmy Haslam said he hopes to have a resolution before the NBA Draft. That’s less than two weeks away (June 23). But that doesn’t mean a trade is coming.
“I just want to stress that our relationship with him, despite what is reported by certain ESPN writers, is very positive,” Haslam said, via TMJ4 News.
What happens with Giannis between now and the draft … well, that’s anyone’s guess.
But according to Hine, he likely won’t be headed to the Timberwolves.
