Free agent guard Toney Douglas has agreed to a contract with Portuguese club Benfica of Portugal, as relayed by Alberto De Roa of HoopsHype and first reported by Martim Figueiredo of Hoopers.club.
Douglas, 36, is 6-foot-2 and last played in the NBA with the Grizzlies during the 2016-17 season. He has also spent time with Knicks, Rockets, Kings, Warriors, Heat and Pelicans.
Since then, he has played professionally overseas, serving stints in Spain, Italy, Turkey, Greece, and Israel. “The veteran point guard spent last season between Greece (17.7 PPG, 5.8 RPG, 4.7 APG, 2.2 SPG with Iraklis) and Israel (17.0 PPG, 3.5 APG, 1.7 SPG with Hapoel Eilat),” wrote EuroHoops.
Douglas carries NBA career averages of 7.6 points and 2.3 assists in 394 games overall. Terms of his deal with Benfica have not been determined.
