Trae Young is expected to opt out of his contract with the Wizards.
He is expected to test free agency.
And he is expected to stay right where he is.
According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, Young is likely to re-sign with Washington on what figures to be a very lucrative new deal.

“He’s going to re-sign with the Wizards, likely on a three-year, very large contract,” Windhorst said.
That shouldn’t come as much of a surprise.
Multiple reports in recent days have indicated that Young has enjoyed his brief time with the Wizards and is excited about the organization’s direction. League insiders have also consistently suggested that Washington views the four-time All-Star as a major part of its future.
The Wizards acquired Young from the Hawks during the season, pairing him with Anthony Davis and positioning themselves for what they hope will be a rapid turnaround.
Now comes the next step.
Washington owns the No. 1 overall pick in next week’s draft and appears prepared to build around a core that includes Young, Davis and whichever prospect hears his name called first on draft night.
Young appeared in just 15 games last season because of injuries, but when healthy, he remains one of the league’s premier playmakers.
Before the injury-plagued campaign, he averaged 24.2 points and a career-high 11.6 assists.
So while Young may technically become one of the biggest names in free agency, all signs continue to point toward him remaining in Washington.
